5-Cent Queso at Taco Bueno

This offer is good Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. The restaurant says the dip is an “improved, bolder queso,” made with two kinds of cheese, jalapenos and red peppers. No coupon is needed, and no additional purchase is necessary. The servings are 2 ounces each. The proceeds from queso sales will benefit local food banks, including the North Texas Food Bank. Earth Day Austin Celebration

At this free event, you’ll enjoy live music, a full slate of interesting speakers (including Austin mayor Lee Leffingwell), environmentally-focused workshops, kids’ activities and more.

A few tips if you plan to attend:

  • Don’t bother bringing a car all the way to the festival! Cap Metro will provide accelerated service between the festival and free parking locations. Plus, if you bike or take the bus, you’ll receive a free $10 certificate from Whole Earth Provision Co. (while supplies last). You’ll save the $7 parking fee too.
  • Bring cash for the food vendors that will be on hand.
  • Be sure to check out the 80+ eco-friendly exhibitors while you’re there.

There will also be drink and appetizer specials (some cocktails $5, American beers $3, beef brisket sliders $5). Proceeds from this event will benefit Austin’s Susan G. Komen affiliate.

The Records Room is at 200 Lavaca St., inside the W Hotel.
