Free Movie Series: Rebel Youth

On Tuesday, Sept. 7, the Milwood branch of the Austin Public Library (12500 Amherst Dr.) is kicking off its monthlong cinema series, “Rebel Youth,” focusing on films about youngsters who live fast and play dangerous. You can drop by the library at 6:30 p.m. every week in September and see an interesting, lesser-known film for free. Here’s the schedule of films, along with their IMDB links:
Sept. 7: Los Olvidados (1950)
Sept. 14: Over the Edge (1979)
Sept. 22 (note this is a Wednesday): This is England (2006)

Barnes & Noble - Saturday Storytime happens at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Valley (5601 Brodie) location on Sept. 4. Also on Sept. 4, the Hill Country Galleria location will have a storytime with Clifford The Big Red Dog at 10:30 a.m.
Book People Storytime – stop by Book People (corner of 6th & Lamar) on Sept. 4 from 11:30 to 12 p.m. for a “Viva La France!” storytime.

Le Garage Sale This Weekend

It’s here! Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-5, are the days for Le Garage Sale, a shopping event that brings Austin’s independent boutiques together under one roof. You can score some great bargains on cute, one of a kind stuff. And it’s not just clothes either; you can shop for accessories, men’s wear, kids’ stuff, and home furnishings.
The event takes place at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Rd.) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $12 per person, or $20 for a two day pass. You pay at the door, but it’s cash-only. Parking in the garage is $7.

Austin Free Day of Yoga: Sept. 6

If you’ve ever been curious about pursuing yoga practice, then this Monday, Sept. 6, would be the ideal time to make the leap. That’s the Austin Free Day of Yoga, a one-day event at which many Austin-area yoga and fitness studios offer free classes. You can try yoga for the first time, try a new style if you’re an old pro, and have a good time.
The free day takes place Monday, but they’re having a kickoff party on Sunday, Sept. 5 at the Whole Foods flagship store at 525 N. Lamar. They’ll offer free yoga from 10 a.m. to noon, as well as snacks and giveaways. Bring your own yoga mat.
